Everyone had a wonderful and meaningful day. Thank you!

Waited this event since early July when I signup for the Hallam Volunteering work- Fruit Salad (Hallam Challenge). The earlier 2 volunteering activity I could not joint due to clashing of lecture time with the activity day. Sigh...
A briefing session was being carried out 2 days earlier to brief us on what to wear, bring, meeting place and what to be expected in this activity. So we all gather punctually to meet up Laura (SHU union staff) outside The Hub sharp at 9.45am. We took Bus no 120 to allotments situated at Hanging Water, Nether Green.
The allotments is a small piece of farm that local people rented from the city council to grow their own fruits and vegetables. We arrive early, while waiting we take a view of the breathtaking hill slope scenery. The farm is filled with lots of different plants, one that caught our sight is a bright yellow mellow fruit.
The owner of the allotments we are working on- Garry and Steven show up 5minute later. After a short briefing session, we spit out to5 groups and start clearing the areas for planting. Vary quickly my group clear a small part of farm ready for sowing seeds. Steven gives each of us some wheat seed to sow in the farm.
At noon we have our lunch in a restaurant 10min wall away from the farm. Again free food!!! Love it.
Then we continue with our work to clear a bigger piece of land. This times the land are more difficult to clear as some tree trunks and rubbish in the soil that needed to removed. Growing food is not an easy business, so please appreciate the food you are enjoying. Some of vegetable e.g. carrot, cucumber and tomato grow in this farm is been passed around for us to taste.
After another 2 hours everyone seems a bit tired (including me). Garry stop us from working and Steven gives a tour around his allotment. We ended the days around 3.45pm and reach Sheffield city around 4.30pm. What a meaningful day. ;-)
